Install Dell OpenManage 7.4 on RHEL / OEL 6.5 Many Windows Admins that don't venture into the NIX world of things may be uncomfortable with working on a Linux box, but this short tutorial will simplify the installation process of Install Dell OpenManage 7.4 on RHEL OEL 6.5 which will help simplify remote monitoring.
For those not familiar, Dell has a neat that can manage network equipment and others. This is available by way of an OVA appliance download as well as other installs. Let’s take a look at the Network Manager 6.2 Appliance Install and Configure. The OMNM6.2 appliance is available as a free 30 day trial download if you want to download it and play around with installing and configuring. Dell Openmanage Network Manager 6.2 Appliance Install and Configure Once you sign up for the trial download, you will receive an email with the download links as well as all the documentation you need to.
Once you deploy the OVA template in vSphere via the normal method of deploying, boot the appliance, and you will be prompted to login. The default username and password for the appliance is: user: synergy pass: $$ After logging in, type the following command to start the setup of the appliance. The setup of the appliance will prompt to restart the VM. Once you have configured the network and rebooted, simply navigate to to get to a login screen. The first thing it will do is have you setup a password reminder question. Next, you will see the plain console without any devices. The setup documentation will prompt you to verify the portal settings to make sure the correct IP address is assigned to the virtual host.
The final recommendation is to check the External File server settings and setup the appropriate parameters here. Finally, we can right click in the Managed Resources area and start adding devices.

I've been having issues with the OMSA 6.3 installation on my 5.6 servers, 'dsmsadatamgrd' segfauls on service start-up all identical PE2950 II. Dell has been able to replicate this issue in their lab with the exact hardware.

The issue seems to be present only on machine with the following PCI-E add-on Network Adapter (Dell provided solution) - 82571EB Gigabit Ethernet Controller For the past 48 hours I've been working with Dell Enterprise Support, have a case open and it's now been escalated to engineering since it it reproducible. I have also noticed that the servers I have OMSA installed on 'multipathd' now also segfaults.
The Supported Hardware matrix can be found at the below link. My Dell rep had escalated this issue to engineering since he was able to replicate the issue in his lab across multiple machines. Engineering came back and closed the case; the PE2950 is not on Citrix's HCL. Looking back, I did find the PE2950 on the xenserver specific HCL.
(however my CPU combo isn't on there) Unfortunately I don't have any further time or spare machines to invest in testing this out, as my pool is in production and uninstalling the OMSA sup. Pack isn't exactly easy.
Let us know if you figure anything else out, I'd like to get it running myself as well. BTW, my case# 819465562. Take care, marco. Btcs, I got the same 'Memory required' message and it doesn't to have affected my installation. However, it seems like I've found 20 different guides on how to install OpenManage SA on Xenserver, and every one has something different in the instructions.
So, after running./install.sh I also had to do these things to make it work for me: 1.) Add ':/opt/dell/srvadmin/sbin' to the end of the 'PATH=' line in /root/.bashprofile - This will allow to run the srvadmin-services.sh commands that some guides include. If you don't do this you will just have to run the command from /opt/dell/srvadmin/sbin 2.) Run 'srvadmin-services.sh start' to start all the OpenManage services.
3.) At this point, the Web interface worked by browsing to but the Storage section said 'No Storage Controllers Found'. So I found another guide that said to do this: # cd /opt/dell/srvadmin/etc #./autoconfcimcomponent.sh After doing this, I restarted the services, and my Perc 5/i controller was detected! By the way, Dell has and updated version of OMSA 6.5 which is officially compatible with Xenserver 6.0. I don't know why it's so hard to find, but here's the link.
